Brushwork is an integral part of the decorative process for many potters, so it's no surprise that the techniques employed by Denman aritsans are as diverse as the ceramic pieces they produce. Garnet Beardsley is only half-joking when she suggests that her highly detailed renderiings on the ceramic surface require brushes as fine as "ant legs!" Her amazing coffee mugs, delicately adorned with chickadees, dogs, cats and other whimsical creatures prove the necessity of a steady hand and comprehension of perspective on a curved surface.
