| Sudasi Gardner- photo by Fireweed Sudasi Gardner is a multi-media artist well-known for her colorful fabric arts, paintings on canvas, dazzling mosaics, and now her handbuilt pottery. Rectangular dishes and lozenge-shaped bowls and plates adorned with images of birds, butterflies, trees, fruits and vegetables are among the many treasures to be found in Gallerie Deya. Gardner creates many of her functional and decorative wares with slabs of clay that have been draped over convex surfaces to provide initial form. Practising an eco-conscious approach to glazing, the artist selects materials for use that are not only food-safe but non-toxic both before and after the firing process.   |
