Inspiration for hand-builder Shirley Phillips has always been as close as the latest found object suitable for pressing tactile patterns into a clay surface.
Related experiments in the artist's ferry hill studio have included fusing found beach glass onto tiny dishes. The melted glass creates jewel-like pools, accentuating underlying patterns with a refractive quality.
